By OJ , MINNESOTA, USA - A 23-year-old Anuak man drowned to death Saturday afternoon at Hiniker Pond, authorites said. The man's identity was not released by the authorities, but the Anuak community in Minnesota is aware of the victim's identity. His name is Omot, son of Ojweo Omot Amulu (father) and Sara Ochalla (mother)
According to the witnesses and the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department, Omot had been swimming with friends and was seen going under. The 911 call was received at 6:41 p.m., and the he was found by Mankato Police at about 6:57, Sheriff said in a press release.
The Mankato Police Department, Mankato Fire, Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department, Blue Earth County Dive Team, North Mankato Police Department, Nicollet County Sheriff's Department and Gold Cross Ambulance all responded to the scene.
