Dear Omot (Omot O. Olum, Governor of Gambella),

By Nyibola Deng

My name is Nyibola. I don't know whether you may know me or not. I have been out of the country for many years now. When I left, you were a very little kid then. I am sure that you don't know me. From where I am living, I have been hearing about your deeds more often. People are saying that the way you are governing Gambella is full of malicious activities such as nepotism, abuse of power, spoiling the names of those whom you think they are threat to your power, widening the division between Anyuaks( the Lul - Openo syndrome ), and so on. Therefore, I am here sending you a piece of advice as some body who is coming from your own village. I wanted to show you a right way to go. You can take it or leave it.

*Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

*Don't have negative thoughts against people whom you feel jealous of them. People are saying you are doing it in your daily life.

* Don't take yourself indispensable to Gambella affairs as you may think. Gambella was there yesteryears and will be there in the years to come. Any body can lead it.

*Keep your limits. You have got power not because of your capability, but by gossiping. How do you know that a gossiper more than you will not come to scene one day?

*Envey is a waste of time. You already have all you need. Doesn’t act like a glutton animal in the name of power, it is not an eternal. Mind you, it will end very soon.

*Life is too short to waste time hating any one. Don't hate others as you have been doing so far. Mind your health as you don't know what will happen to your life tomorrow.

* Realize that life is a school and you are there to learn. Don't think that you know every thing as you may feel. Those who think like that are the most ignorant people in the world.

*Smile and laugh more. People are saying that you are one of the ugliest people in the world and that is why you are so cruel to the very people you are leading.

*You don't have to win every argument. Learn to agree to disagree like a good gentleman.

*Lastly but not the least, don't put your Ego at the same level to the position you are occupying today. When those who put you there learn about your devil motives to others and put you back to where you belongs ( i. e. when you lose power in a very near future ), you will be shattered devastatively.

Please, you can share these points to those whom you care about much. I think it is a good idea to change the way you have been behaving by starting sharing these points to those who are very close to you because you are in the same boat with them.

Sincerely,

Nyibola Deng.
